IF TLDR JUST READ THE BOLDED PORTIONS! (if the asterisks work) (update: they italicized instead)
Dear supporters,
As you know, every December I introduce new changes to the current way of doing things as far as supporting my channel is concerned. We live at a time when social media is rapidly evolving and new ways to support and monetize creator content routinely becomes available.
However, 2024 will be different for me personally; in that I will be taking things in the opposite direction.
At the end of next year (December 2024) my intent is shutdown the 3 different platforms I'm currently using for members to support my work: Locals, YouTube memberships, and Patreon.
This gives those of you with a paid annual subscription advance notice to not renew your membership from this point forward. I wouldn't want you to pay for an annual membership that covers any months of 2025. So if you'd like to continue supporting the channel through 2024, I'd recommend you switch to a monthly membership before your annual membership ends.
Concerning ALL 2024 memberships, the following changes will be made to ALL 3 platforms beginning January 1, 2024:
To make things less complicated, ALL memberships will move to a solely supporter-focused purpose. Meaning you should only remain a paying member if you simply wish to financially support my work with no exclusive perks expected. Things were already this way for Patreon members and YouTube members who aren't BFRs. Although YouTube members will continue to have their badges through 2024.
This means ALL Big Falcon Representatives (BFRs) will no longer have their usernames featured at the end of 'SpaceX in the News' episodes. More on this below.
However, exclusive content for ALL supporters will continue through 2024. And this supporter-only content will be posted to ALL platforms instead of just Locals.
I do very much appreciate the support you all have given me over the years. Without it - without you - this journey would have ended long ago. Continuing to make content, as well as exclusive content for you specifically, is my way of showing appreciation.
I couldn't tell you exactly what exclusive content I'll be posting, or how often. So again, don't become a member or remain a member if exclusive content is your reason for supporting.
I will note that Kerbal Space Program 2 is coming out with their "For Science" update on the 19th of December. The game has been improving, so we'll probably get into that.
Now for my reasons concerning these changes...
A few months ago I began teaching at my church. You may have seen me share these lessons across my social media pages. I know this is a calling from God, but I don't know where it leads. So I will be focusing much of my attention on that area of my life going forward. And I will continue to share these lessons with all my viewers.
I also believe my latest Starship documentary was a swan song of sorts. Not that it's the end of my career or anything, but instead the close of a chapter and the beginning of a new one. I just don't know yet what direction this new chapter is heading either. There are many unknowns and that's cool. Life is an adventure.
After many months of deep thought and prayer I have decided it's time to scale back my SpaceX reporting. 'SpaceX in the News' will continue, but no longer on a weekly basis. Only when really important things are happening worth talking about (like an upcoming Starship launch). Livestreaming notable SpaceX launches will also continue. I very much enjoy spending those rad moments with all of you.
Maybe another documentary is in our future, but I currently have no plans on that front. My plans for 2024 are to focus more of my time with God and my wife.
So again, I want to thank all of you, especially the BFRs, for all your support these years. I don't know what 2024 and beyond has in store for us, but I've learned I can plan all I want; God will still establish my steps in the direction He chooses. So I'm just going to roll with it.
Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Godspeed,
Kevin
This one will be different from any others out there. Drops after Starship Flight Test 2.
A month ago I started teaching at my church. Last weekend we finished our 3-part prelude before we begin studying Genesis. Videos of the lessons are being uploaded onto my new Rumble channel. However, I've been at it all day and they don't seem to want to process. So I may just have to stream them live sometime on Thursday. In the meantime they are on Twitter if you're interested. Here is a clip of some highlights.
